Neighborhood Success Warren Grant Making Committee

Janis Sanfrey happy to help her hometown, proud of diversity

Janis L. Sanfrey, a French teacher at Warren G. Harding High School, said she feels honored to serve as a member of a committee of The Raymond John Wean Foundation that awards grants to organizations that are trying to help her hometown.

"I chose to serve on The Raymond John Wean Foundation Committee because I have always admired the beneficial support The Wean Foundation has given to our area. I felt honored and privileged to be asked to take part in the Neighborhood Grant Committee and know that the team will continue to assist local organizations in assisting with making our community a better place," Sanfrey said.

One of the Mahoning Valley's greatest strengths, Sanfrey said, is its diversity.

"We are able to see all types of people from varying backgrounds and socio-economic statuses and we are able to learn from each other," she said. "I think it is important as our world moves to a more global community that we embrace, accept and learn from our differences and people in Warren and Youngstown have an advantage because we are truly part of a melting pot."
