Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
My organization is based outside the Mahoning Valley giving area of The Raymond John Wean Foundation. Am I still eligible to apply for a grant?
Organizations receiving funding through the Foundation’s competitive grant process must be located and/or conducting activities in Mahoning and/or Trumbull Counties in Ohio.
Do you fund start-up projects?
Yes.
If I have questions or concerns, can I call before I submit my Letter of Inquiry?
By all means, we are here to assist you in your preparing your materials for potentially submitting a full proposal.
When should I send in my Letter of Inquiry?
A Letter of Inquiry may be submitted at any time. However, if you are timing a potential proposal to coincide with your fiscal year, please be aware that your Letter of Inquiry must be reviewed prior to an invitation for a full proposal. We ask that you allow four (4) weeks for this review. We find that this stage in the process can save the grant seeker a great deal of work if for any reason the contemplated request is unlikely to meet with a favorable response. If you are invited to submit a full proposal, the deadlines are January 15, April 15, July 15 and October 15 each year.
Do I need to contact The Raymond John Wean Foundation before I send in my Letter of Inquiry?
Although not required, prospective applicants are encouraged to contact the Foundation before sending in a Letter of Inquiry. This may help the organization better understand the Foundation’s focus and provides an opportunity for informal discussion about the prospective project.
What happens after I send in my Letter of Inquiry?
The Foundation reviews all Letters of Inquiry before inviting eligible applicants to submit a full proposal. If the board does invite you to send a full proposal, you will have until the next deadline date to submit your full proposal.
