Orientation Sessions and Workshops

Community Investment Grantseeker Orientation Workshops

The Raymond John Wean Foundation is committed to improving the lives of the people of the Mahoning Valley. Through strategic grantmaking, the Foundation seeks to create various opportunities for people living in the Valley’s economically disadvantaged communities and neighborhoods. The Foundation uses three benchmarks to help guide its grantmaking decisions, building community capacity, building organizational capacity and building network capacity.

As part of our grantmaking to nonprofit organizations, we attempt to provide useful sessions to potential grantseekers. We will offer these sessions before each of our quarterly rounds of grantmaking.

If you are interested in knowing more about our priorities and our process, we will be hosting orientation sessions for grantseekers. These will be open sessions which will offer identical information; grantseekers are invited to attend whichever session is most convenient. The sessions are scheduled as follows:

  • Wednesday, July 28, 2010, from 10:00 am to 11:15 am at The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 305 Wick Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44503.
  • Thursday, July 29, 2010, from 3:00 pm to 4:15 pm at the Kent State University Trumbull Campus, Technology Building, Room 117, 4314 Mahoning Avenue, NW, Warren, OH 44483.
Because space is limited at the sessions, we ask that you RSVP to our reservations line at 1.800.408.6892, online at www.rjweanfdn.org, or contact Cheryl at ccrooks@rjweanfdn.org.

The next deadline for invited proposals is October 15, 2010. Grantseekers are asked to submit our Letter of Inquiry form by the beginning of June for the July deadline.

Neighborhood SUCCESS Grants Orientation Sessions

The Raymond John Wean Foundation has created the Neighborhood SUCCESS Grants program to support grassroots groups in small community development projects that improve the quality of life in the neighborhoods of Warren and Youngstown, Ohio.

Neighborhood SUCCESS encourages groups of residents, as well as neighborhood, school and faith-based organizations, to attend one of our Grantseeker Orientations prior to applying for a grant.  First time grantseekers are required to attend an Orientation session prior to applying for a grant.  The Orientation provides important information on tips how to complete the application and what the Grant Making Committee is looking for when they review applications.  Our next due date for applications is September 15, 2010.

We will be hosting open sessions which will offer identical information; you are invited to attend whichever session is most convenient.  The next sessions will be held:
